TMDHosting has earned multiple awards, including being named the Best phpBB provider and Best CMS Made Simple provider within a year of its launch. It was also selected as PC Mag’s editor’s choice and claims to power over 300,000 websites.

The hosting services offered by TMDHosting include shared hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, and cloud hosting. They also provide specialized programs for resellers and affiliates. But does TMDHosting live up to its reputation?

While it generally receives favorable reviews, some users have reported difficulties transitioning from regular hosting to cloud hosting and expressed concerns about its cancellation and refund policies. The customer support isn’t always top-tier either, which might suggest that you get what you pay for.

As with any web hosting provider, there’s a mix of positive and negative feedback—such is the nature of the business.

TMDHosting offers many of the standard features you’d expect from a web hosting provider, such as an impressive 99.999% uptime guarantee, a free domain name or website transfer, a drag-and-drop website builder, and access to hundreds of open-source installers.

Now, let’s dive into some of TMDHosting’s more unique and noteworthy features.

Generous Resource Allocations

One of the standout aspects of TMDHosting is its highly competitive pricing, making it one of the most affordable managed hosting options available. Even on the basic plan, you’ll receive unlimited SSD storage, unlimited bandwidth, and a free domain name. While the performance may not match that of higher-end managed hosting providers, the value for the price is impressive.

Free Daily Backups

I don’t know about you, but I manage websites for both personal and professional purposes. Juggling multiple sites and tight deadlines has led me to forget to back them up at times, and I’ve had to rebuild them more than once. Thankfully, TMDHosting offers automatic free daily backups, which helps ease that concern. Still, it’s always wise to create your own backups as an extra precaution.

The company claims to offer “military-grade security” through its BitNinja-powered web-based firewall. This is good news if you’re worried about hacks and breaches, especially when running ecommerce sites or storing personal data. No malware protection system is fool-proof, but TMDHosting’s system is better than most.

Ease of use

TMD Hosting has a sleek signup and account creation process. Plus, once you’ve got your login, it’s easy to get started with its one-click installers and the drag-and-drop site builder, although its interface is a little clunky.

One-Click Installers

TMDHosting provides one-click installers for WordPress and over 300 other applications, with a focus on open-source hosting solutions for platforms like PrestaShop, OpenCart, Joomla, and WordPress. If the software you need isn’t included in the one-click options, chances are it will still be supported if you upload the installer manually via FTP.

Free Domain Name/Website Transfer

TMDHosting handles page and database migration for you, so you don’t have to manage it on your own. If you’re starting a new site, they offer a pre-built WordPress environment along with firewall and security software, taking those tasks off your plate and giving you one less thing to worry about.

Creating an Account

TMDHosting has clearly streamlined its onboarding process, making it easy to compare plans and make a purchase once you’ve made your choice. Unlike some hosts that may take up to 48 hours to activate your account after purchase, TMDHosting typically verifies and sets up your account within a few minutes—great news if you’re in a rush!

Connecting a Domain and Installing WordPress

Finding and registering a free domain or transferring an existing one is quick and straightforward, allowing you to get started with your new hosting package in no time. Once your domain is connected, cPanel makes it easy to install WordPress with just a few clicks. Performance

(Not quite) 99.99% uptime

It seems that TMDHosting’s performance doesn’t quite live up to its claims of fast load times, potentially due to its focus on security and cost-efficiency, or perhaps this is a common issue with hosting companies. Belarussian reviewer Yauhen Kuchynski shared his experience, stating, “Over three months, the servers went down six times. Today, my website has been offline for six hours.”

It’s common for hosting companies to promise 99.99% uptime but fail to meet that target, often with refund policies hidden in the fine print that offer minimal compensation, and only if you specifically request it. If uptime is crucial for your site, it’s a good idea to carefully review the terms and read customer reviews before making a decision.

Due to these concerns about speed and uptime, we decided to run our own test using Sucuri’s Page Load Test. As shown in the screenshot below, while TMDHosting generally has a quick connection time, the first byte and total load speeds are consistently fast only in Western Europe. This may be influenced by the locations of their physical servers.

This doesn’t mean TMDHosting isn’t a viable option, but it’s important to be aware of its limitations. If your website is mission-critical and requires consistent uptime and fast speeds globally, it may be worth investing in a premium hosting provider. However, if your primary audience is in Western Europe and you’re working with a limited budget, TMDHosting remains a solid choice.

Support

24/7 support, but it’s not always the most dedicated

A major selling point for TMDHosting is its 24/7/365 support, but be cautious—it doesn’t always live up to its claim of being “the most dedicated.”

Some users have reported issues such as slow or inefficient solutions, occasional mistakes, and errors like restoring the wrong version of a website. While the support team does try to assist, they may not always go above and beyond.

I tested their live chat, email, and ticket support, and here’s what I discovered:

Live Chat

Before making a purchase, I reached out to live chat several times. Each time, the agent responded promptly and was very courteous. I asked simple, pre-sales questions (such as “Where are your servers located?” and “What is your uptime guarantee?”), and as expected, the agent was able to answer them without any issues.

Email Support

I sent an email to the sales department asking whether or not the plans included a one-click installer. I received a reply within ten minutes answering my question in full. Again, the operator was helpful and polite.

Support Ticket

This option isn’t available to non-customers, but after creating an account, you can submit support tickets through the admin panel. I submitted a ticket inquiring about whether WordPress could be installed using a one-click installer. The agent responded within 25 minutes and provided a complete answer to my question.

Pricing

TMDHosting offers fairly affordable pricing plans, especially with the current 65% off promotion. You can start at a low monthly rate, which even includes a free domain name. They accept various payment methods, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover cards, PayPal, and bank transfers.
