WPX’s user interface is well-organized and clean. The hosting dashboard includes a search bar at the top, allowing users to easily search for common queries within their knowledge base.

The dashboard displays a list of your hosting plans that you can view and manage. At the bottom, there’s a link to their knowledge base, as well as options to open a support ticket or request a migration. A helpful live chat button is located in the bottom right corner.

However, there’s no direct button to access your WordPress dashboard, which I found disappointing. Overall, the user interface feels a bit outdated in design and somewhat complicated to navigate. It also feels slow and sluggish when loading different features, making it less beginner-friendly in my experience.

Testing Parameters

To test WPX Managed WordPress hosting, I purchased their Business Plan, which costs $20.83 per month with an annual subscription. All their hosting plans utilize LiteSpeed web servers.

Along with that, I’ve also used the following parameters for setting up my website.

• US Servers

WPX Speeds

Speed is a critical factor when selecting a web host. To assess WPX hosting’s performance, I ran speed tests from both the US and India using the KeyCDN tool. Here are the results:

WPX Speed Test – US

When testing from the US, I observed an impressive speed of 713 ms, likely due to using their US-based data centers. In contrast, when testing from India, my website loaded in 2.22 seconds, which is still a respectable speed.

They use a powerful in-house CDN, which is why I was expecting even better speeds in India. Overall, I was impressed with the speeds in the US region. 

WPX Uptime Status

I have been monitoring the uptime of my website hosted on WPX for the last 122 days with Better Uptime. It checks and updates my website’s uptime status every 30 seconds.

Below is the uptime status report of the WPX Hosting Business Plan (US Servers) for the last 122 days.

Over the past 122 days, my website’s uptime has been flawless, maintaining a perfect 100%. In the last 30 days, I’ve also seen 100% uptime, with no incidents of downtime so far.

Note: I’m currently using the WPX Business Hosting plan, and the uptime will be updated each month.

WPX offers a reliable uptime guarantee of 99.95%, and they’ve easily upheld this promise. Overall, I’m highly impressed by the consistent 100% uptime. For other hosting providers with strong uptime records, you might also consider Cloudways, Rocket.net, or Nexcess.

WPX Load Test

To evaluate WPX hosting’s load handling capabilities, I sent 50 virtual users to my website. These users made a total of 9,722 requests without any failures. The peak response rate reached 49 requests per second, while the average request rate was 29 requests per second.

The P95 response time was 30 ms, meaning that 95% of the requests were handled in under 30 ms. Although there was a brief spike in response time at the beginning, it remained stable afterward.

Overall, these results showcase WPX hosting’s impressive ability to manage load, and I was thoroughly impressed with its performance.

WPX Cache

WPX uses Server OPCache, which automatically clears the cache every 90 seconds. In addition, they offer their own CDN, WPX XDN, which caches data across 39 locations for faster content delivery.

To optimize performance, WPX hosting recommends using caching plugins such as W3 Total Cache, LiteSpeed Cache, WP Rocket, and NitroPack.

WPX Data Centers

WPX hosting has data centers in three locations: Chicago (USA), London (UK), and Sydney (Australia). However, they don’t have any data centers in Asia, such as Singapore or India, which means users in India may experience slightly slower speeds.

WPX Domains

Like other managed hosting providers such as Nexcess, Nestify, and Cloudways, WPX hosting does not include a free domain with its hosting plans. However, they do offer domain registration services, allowing you to purchase domains separately.

Apart from this, WPX allows you to create a temporary domain to view how your WordPress site would appear online. You can simply select the number of hours between 1 to 24 on its slider bar and activate the Preview URL. Once the time is exceeded, the URL is disabled.

WPX Backup and Restoration

WPX hosting provides regular automatic backups that are saved on a separate backup server, ensuring they don’t use up any of your hosting account’s storage. These daily backups are kept for 28 days, which is beneficial from a security standpoint.

WPX Security

Limited security features are available on WPX hosting. The most important ones are mentioned below.

• SSL: You get unlimited free SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt on your hosting.
• 2FA: It supports two-factor authentication via Google Authenticator. So you can easily log in using OTP codes from your authenticator app.
• DDoS Protection: This feature prevents any malicious traffic from getting access to your website.

WPX Pricing

The pricing plans of WPX hosting start from a slightly expensive price of $20.83/month. It features three managed WordPress hosting plans – Business, Professional, and Elite. The table below compares their key features.

If you choose their annual subscriptions, you get 2 extra months of service for free. I’m currently using their Business plan, which supports 5 websites, includes 14 GB of storage, and provides 200 GB of bandwidth. It costs $20.83 per month.

The Business plan is suitable for websites with low to moderate traffic, such as blogs, small business websites, or portfolio sites. However, their higher-tier plans are quite expensive and still only offer 3 PHP workers and 1 GB of RAM per site.

PHP workers help your website handle dynamic tasks, and having more PHP workers makes it easier to manage these tasks. Unfortunately, WPX doesn’t provide many PHP workers on any of its plans, making it less ideal for running eCommerce sites.

If you have a high-traffic website, you might want to consider Nexcess hosting instead. Even its Starter plan comes with 10 PHP workers, and it’s competitively priced at $21 per month.

Payment Methods

WPX hosting accepts payments via credit cards and PayPal. I hope they add more convenient payment methods, such as UPI Payments, for Indian users.

Refund Policy

WPX offers a 30-day refund policy, allowing you to cancel your plan within 30 days and receive a full refund if you’re not satisfied with your purchase.

WPX Staging

Setting up a staging website on WPX is straightforward and only takes a few minutes. If you want to apply the changes to your live site, you can easily do so by clicking the “merge to live” button..

The staging feature does have several limitations. You must have WordPress installed to create a staging site, and if your site’s database exceeds 1 GB or the total size is over 4-5 GB, the staging site cannot be created.

In general, setting up the staging site and pushing changes to the live site is quite simple. However, the main drawback is the wait time, which can range from 5 to 15 minutes for the staging site to be fully created.

WPX Email Hosting

Talking about email hosting, WPX hosting supports unlimited mailboxes. 

You can create as many email accounts as you want and deploy custom storage space as per your preference for each of them.

WPX Other Features

Inodes represent the total number of files on your hosting account, including website files, media, databases, emails, and more. WPX hosting offers an unlimited inode count, allowing you to store as many files and databases as you need without restrictions.

CDN

Talking about WPX CDN services, it features an in-house Content Delivery Network called WPX XDN (eXceptional Delivery Network). 

It is freely available on all hosting plans and has 37 endpoints worldwide. This ensures speedy content delivery across the entire globe, resulting in a massive acceleration in page load speeds.

Optimization

To enhance the speed and performance of your website, WPX allows you to submit speed optimization requests.

Simply fill out their optimization form, providing your WP Admin credentials, speed test results, and any additional requirements. The WPX support team will then handle the optimization for you.

The catch is that you can only avail 1 free website optimization on a website. Any requests of optimizing the same website again in future would cost you $139 USD.

Many managed WordPress hosting providers only allow you to host one website on their plans. However, with WPX, you can host up to **5 websites** even on their entry-level plan, making it ideal for managing multiple sites under one account.

1) Outdated UI

WPX’s user interface appears a bit outdated in design and can feel sluggish and complicated to navigate. It doesn’t seem particularly user-friendly for beginners.

2) Fewer PHP Workers

Unfortunately, WPX doesn’t provide many PHP workers, regardless of the plan, limiting your website’s ability to handle many dynamic tasks. The Starter plan includes 3 PHP workers, which is slightly better than Kinsta, but still insufficient for efficiently running an online store.

While WPX does offer staging support, the process takes a considerable amount of time to deploy a staging environment. Overall, I found the staging feature to be neither simple nor efficient.

The Starter plan for WPX is priced at $20.83, offering only 1 GB of RAM, support for 5 websites, and 3 PHP workers. Considering the features provided, the pricing feels relatively high.

5) Limited Data Centers

WPX has only three data center locations in the USA, UK, and Australia. They do not have any data centers in Asian regions such as Singapore or India.
